Hi there, @Kaitlinsmith. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. It's sad to hear that your Versa 4 is not is receiving notifications. I'll be glad to help you with this.

As a first approach, I'd recommend checking whether your Versa 4 is in sleep mode. When sleep mode is on:

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist. To wake your tracker, firmly tap the screen twice.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in quick settings.

If the above doesn't describe your issue, please see Troubleshooting quick tips for iPhones and/or Why are notifications delayed or missing? depending on your phone.

None of that works. My phone is telling me I need an app to connect to my fitbit. It's connected for steps. But what app do I need? This makes no sense.

Hi there, @Kaitlinsmith. Thanks for getting back and the details shared in your post above.

As per the message you're getting, it seems like your Versa 4 is not properly paired. With that being said, please try the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair the Versa 4 from the phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that he may also have paired to his phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off you phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on the phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up the Versa 4 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart the Versa 4.
  • Proceed to set up the notifications once again.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair the Versa 4 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to the phone.
