I noticed my app wasn't updating or able to sync with my versa 4. I have already tried the following steps:
- restarting both phone and versa 4
- uninstalling and reinstalling the app
- turning Bluetooth on and off several times
None of these worked so opted for a factory reset of my versa 4.
I used the option in one of the menus to do this.
It is now stuck on the start up display telling me all about downloading the app.
I cannot get past this page and the app cannot find the versa 4.
If I press and hold the button, the fitbit logo flashes and then I get a big red cross.
What's next?

Hi there, @JoJ100. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 is still not connecting. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!
If you're getting the red X, please confirm if you've done a manual factory reset as follows: Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off and vibrates. When you feel the vibration, release the button, then immediately press and hold the button again. Wait for the Fitbit logo to appear, then as soon as the logo disappears, release the button, then press and hold the button again. When you feel the vibration, release the button, then wait for the watch to complete the factory reset.

I have tried this several times. It still either goes to the red cross or to the screen telling me to install the app. It cannot be detected by the app.

Just managed to find the live chat for fitbit support. Apparently, there is a known issue with the latest app update that is causing this for some users. Should be sorted in a 'few days'.

I received my Versa 4 today, am able to sync the watch to the app on my phone, but cannot get past the 'to get started' screen on my watch. I've restarted the watch and Bluetooth several times with no success. Terribly disappointed. Firmware update issue?

I'm having the same issue. Can't get past the setup screens. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the app; made sure the phone is added. Restarted my watch; Don't know what else to do! Any ideas??
