Versa 4 won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

I've now had my new (unreliable) Versa 4 for 3 weeks. I thought I'd give it a chance to settle having replaced my highly reliable Charge HR when it stopped syncing.

I've notice a pattern with it disconnecting that I thought I'd pass on. I like to monitor my sleep as I have apnoea and have discovered the following times it disconnects:

14.3.24 - 2.20am. 15.3.24 - 3.39am. 19.3.24 - 2.09am. 20.3.24 - 3.14am. 25.3.24 - 3.09am. 26.3.24 - 3.19am. 28.3.24 - 2.14am. 29.3.24 - 3.04am. 2.4.24 - 3.09am. 3.4.24 - 3.04am. 4.4.24 - 3.14am. 5.4.24 - 3.09am.

Can anyone suggest a reason for this or is it just a duff watch that needs returning? Someone has suggested App issues but I'd really like to resolve this before I decide, after over 10 years of Fitbit use, to go over to the Gar-side.

Many thanks, Chris.

Hi there, @Chriscordes. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and for bringing this to my attention. I understand where your concern is coming from. I will do my best to help you with this.

Before considering other options, I suggest following the troubleshooting steps provided in this help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If the issue persists, please try the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Versa 4 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Hi @Chriscordes - thanks for the information. Did you try to logout of the Fitbit app at night. Some versions can be problematic and a syncing failure may disrupt the watch recording your sleep.

Hi @Guy_  - Thanks for that, I shall give it a try. I followed all the previous instructions and it stayed on sync last night. I shall give it a couple more nights to see if I can get to Wednesday morning as it's always failed in the early hours of Tuesday (amongst other days).

Hi @MarreFitbit

One week on and I'm happy to report that having followed your instructions my new Versa 4 has stayed on point overnight. As a belt and braces precaution I have also followed @Guy_ advice and closed the Fitbit app down overnight.

Many thanks for your help.
