My new versa 4 is not logging my nightly skin temp. I have been wearing it for about a month now to bed every night.

Hi there, @Lockland. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post.

Please note it typically varies over the course of a night. Factors that may cause skin temperature to vary include changes in room temperature, bedding, circadian rhythm, menstrual cycle, or the onset of a fever. Note that significant changes in ambient temperature may negatively impact skin temperature tracking. For more information, see How can Fitbit help me track my temperature?

Hope that helps.

No my versa 4 is not recording any skin temperature at all.Sent from my Galaxy

I've worn mine every night since I got it in October, and it has never recorded skin temperature - it always says "wear device for 3 nights". Considering what this thing costs, it's horrible that part of the functionally doesn't work, but that seems to be the case.

And yes, I've updated the app, logged out and back in again, restarted my phone, restarted my device - it simply doesn't work.

I have been having the same issue. I’ve tried tightening the band too, and it does not seem to help.
It shows up under my health metrics though.

I haven't looked in my health metrics, but will see if it's showing in there.

@Lockland There seems to be a software issue concerning baseline temperature. The thermal sensor of Versa 4 seems to be working though as it measures skin temperature and shows results in difference in Health Metrics.

Yes, after reading @Rightfullyfree response I checked my health metrics and it displayed my skin temp. But it was just odd to me that my versa 3 had no problems in my app but the new versa 4 does. But thank you for the explanation of it being software related @Talahthas

I agree. My new Versa 4 also reports the same “no baseline yet” - wear for 3 plus days. - Which I have most definitely done but it still gives the same report. I’m taking reassurance from the replies on this feed which indicate that it’s a software problem. Let’s hope it can be resolved soonest.

Received the Versa 4 for Christmas - delighted - and most but not all sections are working - I’m still not receiving baseline temperature.  Health metrics was not working but I turned my phone off and on again and I see some info there.  Any tips to get this up and running would be gratefully received.

Skin temperature sensor.is not listed as being present in the specs of a Versa 4.

Though is listed as a feature see Feature and Specs section

Mine is the same!

I’ve had mine for over a week and so far I’m loving it! But I’m also not getting anything in the “Temperature” tab on my app. Still says to wear for 3 nights.

However, I am getting a reading on my health metrics.

so ??

also, in only 1 clockface, it is stuck on 24hr time! Other clocks are fine, but this one isn’t! And I really like it! Any suggestions? App is set to 12hr time! I’ve restarted everything…. ??

Hi @FaithS_ - thanks, it may be an app bug, but it is confusing about skin temperature.

Re clock face you can contact and inform the developer but as 3rd party clock faces are not currently supported it may be difficult to get a correction.

Thanks for this Guy, and you are quite right. The sensor doesn’t seem to be listed in the specs so I’ve removed the ‘stats Temperature’ on the app. However I am getting a ‘variation in nightly skin temperature’ in the ‘Health Metrics’ on the app which implies there is a temperature sensor in the device. Interestingly, the display units of the variation temperature are in degrees F even though my settings unit choice is degrees C. Confused?

Best Answer

@Craftman  - thanks, before you remove the skin temperature tile click it's gear icon and you can see change units which seems the same as App settings, just an alternative place to change it.

Though it would seem there are 2 teams working to different designs and parameters so it does not affect the health metrics units which might be based on location or language or something else.

It is possible after setting the temperature units you may have to logout and back in and sync for it to take effect.

The health metrics are calculated and downloaded from the Fitbit servers so have their own way of doing things.

Thanks Guy. I understand you and it makes sense that there is more than one software team in this. After your comment, I did find that my location in personal profile settings wasn’t set so this may account for a default ‘F variation setting in the app health metrics. I’ve corrected my profile and will do some logging out and in and resetting soon. Nevertheless, it’s been an interesting exploration of this and I appreciate your feedback and advice.

Thanks for the response!

I’ll just wait and see about the skin temp thing. Hoping it’ll be fixed on an update. I can currently get it on my Health metrics. Just wanted to let you guys know the Temperature tab on the app is showing no data!

As for the clockface, it’s a Fitbit one! It’s the “Layers” clockface. I can’t seem to get it out of 24 hr time! It’s the only face that does it! Lol! 🤷🏼‍

@FaithS_- the Fitbit Layers clock face may have been incorrectly ported from the older version for the new watches, possibly a design confusion.

You may be able to resolve the time format by pulling down the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off Always On and enable wrist wake.
