Versa 4 won't track my sleep data

I’ve had my Versa for over 4 weeks now and have only received sleep stages and a sleep score 2 nights out of those four weeks. I’ve tried tightening it, loosening it, wearing it in different spots on my wrist, etc., and nothing seems to solve this problem. Is this common? Is there likely an issue with my device? Any suggestions are welcome. If I can’t get it to work properly I’m returning it in the near future.

Hi there, @JFish85. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and making sure you're wearing your Versa 4 properly.

As a first approach, as @Heather-S has recommended, please try restarting your Versa 4.

In addition, please note there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

I know you mentioned that you wear your Versa 4 as suggested, but please keep in mind that if you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely you won't get your sleep stages. The band should feel secure but not too tight.

@JFish85 Are you letting the watch record your sleep naturally? Or are you going into the app and selecting "Begin sleep now"? If you use "begin sleep now" you will not get sleep stages or a sleep score. Also make sure the heart rate monitor is working.

I’m letting it record it naturally. The heart rate monitor appears to be working fine throughout the day so I’m not sure what the issue is. If you have any other suggestions or fixes please share.

@JFish85 Have you tried doing a restart or a total factory reset?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I’ve tried all of these different options over the course at least 2 weeks now and nothing seems to be working. I’m not sure if there’s any other tips or if there’s something faulty with my Fitbit. I find it strange that over this span nothing has seemed to work.

I have tried all the suggested fixes to record my sleep time to no avail because I don’t sleep a full 3 hours before I get up to go to the WC. Not only will I not get my sleep recorded but I’m  not getting my SPO2 info. Because of that program design, I’m thinking of returning my Versa 4. I like the the watch but if Fitbit has no plans to correct this issue I will be looking at Apple Watches and/or go back to my Vivoactive 3.

@Keylimeboy For the SPo2 info, are you using one of the SPo2 clock faces? That's the only way to get the SPo2 data -- change to an SPo2 clock face and go to bed with it overnight and you should have a reading shortly after waking and syncing to your phone.
