My Fitbit verse 4 will not turn on, when on charger it will turn on. Pressed the side button and still won’t turn on. Had the big red cross on the screen a few times and has gone out of sync several times. Watch only about 1.5 years old, got it Christmas 22.

Hi there, @lynny25. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 is stuck on the red X. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you!
If you haven't done so yet, please try to manually sync your Versa 4 by tapping your profile picture > your device image > Sync Now. By doing this, a firmware update banner should appear.
If Sync Now doesn’t show an update banner, please tap your profile picture > your device image > Gallery. The app should show a popup to install the missing apps to install the missing apps and recover the device. If the firmware update banner does not show, press and hold the side button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, then release the button. For more information please visit How do I restart my Fitbit device?
If none of the above works, please do a manual factory reset: Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off and vibrates. When the customer feels the vibration, release the button, then immediately press and hold the button again. Wait for the Fitbit logo to appear, then as soon as the logo disappears, release the button, then press and hold the button again. When you feel the vibration, release the button, then wait for the watch to complete the factory reset.

I have this same issue, my versa 4 stopped working 4 days ago. I have tried all of the above but unable to get it to switch on. I am unable to sync it via my phone. I'm at a loss on what to do and the watch is not old max 18 mths so I really don't want to be buying a new one without trying something. It's 100% fully charged and does nothing, is there anything else I can try or if I've done all this is it best to buy another watch?
Thanks, Claire

Hi @Clarabell79 - if the watch is not working or syncing how do you know it's 100% charged? It may not be, and in that case see instructions in How to check charge cable - Sense 2/Versa 4 won't charge, won't start or blank screen

Hi, thank you so much for this info. So correct my watch wasn't charged, after doing some of your instructions I managed to get it to charge, once about 18% it was like I had to register a new device which I did and I then got my phone and watch to sync. I then had to leave it charging until over 50% to allow an update to go through. This all worked fine and it is back working. However the button still doesn't work it is non responsive, when I press it it does nothing, I have to keep tapping my screen several times to make it active. Any idea on what I can do to fix this issue with the button being defective?
TIA

@Clarabell79 - that's good progress, while the button is not working, double tap the watch till it wakes, pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all the icons.
That way it wil wake when you raise your wrist to look at it (avoids the need to tap it).
In some cases a swipe watch face right will go back (in menu operations) in place of the button.
It's possible your watch has a hardware fault causing the button not to work, though a factory reset (not without risk) may resolve it.
If still under warranty it can be replaced.
