API outage last Tuesday (July 8 7-8 AM PDT)?

Hello Fitbit!

 

Our logs show a whole bunch of connectivity errors reaching the Fitbit API on Tuesday, July 8 from 7 to 8 AM PDT.  Our API requests (GET requests on time series or user profile endpoints) were timing out.

 

I don't see any official incident reports, but we also noticed some user reports on various Facebook Fitbit groups around July 8 and 9 complaining about Fitbit being down for maintenance. Just curious what was going on - not sure if the problem was at our end or yours.

You are correct, we had a problem with our load balancing infrastructure caused by upstream issues. Sorry for the inconvenience.
