The API docs at dev.fitbit.com says the response to the query "GET https://api.fitbit.com/1/user/-/activities/heart/date/[date]/1d.json" is more like a summary of the time spent in each of the heartrate "zones" along with the resting heart rate. However, I noticed that I'm getting the whole intraday time series. Is that an official change that hasn't quite make it to the docs yet?
