Hi there,
I'm not a developer myself but I am a big fan of Ifttt.com, which uses the API. How about opening up the API so that when I put my fitbit into sleep mode, or tap it to wake up, it pings other services?
I'm thinking, for example, how it could be conceivably used to switch off all of my Belkin WeMo lights when I go to bed at night, or switch them on in the morning on waking up, and so on.
Cheers.

Hello,
We don't have such triggers in ifttt service yet.
Please search here if there is such idea exists and vote for it: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/idb-p/features
If it does not eists you can create new one. Once it gets enough votes we certainly will implement it.

Currently, Fitbit trackers don't attempt to force a sync of themselves when sleep logs are concluded, which is why we can't build this trigger yet.
Also, this functionality would be dependent upon an available BLE connection with your phone or computer.

I am a developer. I managed to grab fitbit through the api. I understand the limitation of BLE. In my opinion, on / off status from the events ex: sleep, from fitbit allows more integration to external applications.
I am concern a lot about the sleep, hence i am using sleepbot to track my sleep either. The function of sound recording allowing me to understand what is happening during the restless night. With the status, i am able to use it to trigger the sleepbot on / off through the tapping of fitbit. So far, the workaround i can figure out by using tasker to call the my own api url to check about the status of the fitbit. (Once it is available.)
Cheers,
Rudy
