Time Series Calories not Matching Daily Activity Calories

I'm trying to (ultimately) get a user's total calories burned over the lifetime of their account.  I'm noticing what seems to be a discrepancy in my personal data.  I've entered activities for today and see them appearing correctly via the /user/-/activities/date/TODAYSDATE.json endpoint.  Here is a screenshot of my activities for the day:

But when I look at my Time Series result, today's record for activityCalories only shows 2530:

Am I missing something about what these values represent?  Is there a better way to retrieve total activityCalories over the life of an account?
