Hi, I want to build a project that turns my lights/other appliances off when I've fallen asleep. I was wondering if the fitbit sleep api logs events in real time so that they can be accessed while the user is asleep.
Also, does Fitbit provide dev devices, we're a bunch of students at Berkeley who'd be building some morning/night routine automations at IoT Hacks (htp://iothacks.fyi) using Fitbits API.

Welcome to the forums!
That is a great idea and its definitely not the first time I have heard of this. Unfortunately, it is not possible with the Web API as the API does not offer real-time/live/raw data. The Web API can only provide data that had already been synced to a user's Fitbit account.
However, this may be possible with the Device SDK and it would be best to ask about it through the forums intended for this purpose: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/SDK-Development/bd-p/sdk
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
