2000 steps versus 2500 steps

i have been using my zip for over a year now, and i still do not understand how or why it takes me between 2400 to 2500 steps to complete a mile and everyone is saying a mile equals 2000 steps. Am I doing something wrong or is my zip wrong?  At this rate I  will never get 10000 steps a day.

It all comes down to your height! Generally speaking, the taller someone is, the longer their stride length which, in turn, means that it takes less strides to do a mile.

The actual number of steps per mile will be different person to person and I would guess from yours that you are not that tall so you have more steps to do than others.

Hey there @irishmyst, it's great to have you here! As @SteveH mentioned the distance calculation is based on your personal stride lenght. In order to get more accurate distance you can manually enter your stride lenght at your settings page

It's always nice to see you around @SteveH!

Let me know how it goes and enjoy your 2016! Heart
