Body mass index (BMI) is measure of body fat based on height and weight. The higher the BMI, the greater the risk of some diseases, including high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, stroke, osteoarthritis, some cancers, and type 2 diabetes.

im just great then lost 9, is that good or bad?
Best AnswerWhy can't Fitbit calculate BMI for you when you manually enter your weight. Fitbit knows I am a male, 64 years old and 178cm tall. Would have thought the caklculation would be simple??
look forward to a reply

It does! If you go the weight page of the web interface at https://www.fitbit.com/weight you can choose between displaying weight or BMI
Best AnswerSorry Steve, Did not explain myself properly. With the Zip you manually enter your weight into Fitbit on your phone. My issue is you also have to calculate your BMI and enter that figure as well. I think Fitbit should bve able to calculate that for you when you enter your weight as fibit already knows your gender, age and height.

That's strange. I'm pretty sure I've never had to enter my BMI yet is shows ok on that link I gave. The web interface for logging weight does let you enter body fat but it's optional.
Perhaps this is something peculiar to the zip or phone app but if that's the case then I agree with you - it shouldn't need to ask.
When you update your steps in the iPhone dashboard, I select weight and enter that after weighing myself.
The BMI recorded is alsways the same as the previous day, you then have to calculate it and enter the new detail if your weight has changed.
I have just contacted support and asked that the calculation be a new feature, watch this space for when I get a reply (2 days out)
