Bug: I need to be on the internet to see how many steps I have.

When I am offline, which happens fairly frequently, the fitbit app on my iOS device does not update.  It says I need an internet connection.  This seems like bad programming or at best a pointless restriction, given that my phone sees my zip.  Why can't my zip sync when offline?  Does everyone run while connected to the internet all day long?

When you do a sync the app takes data from the fitbit and uploads it to the fitbit servers - it is not stored on the phone. So, you need bluetooth on for the phone to connect to the fitbit, and you need internet access for the phone to connect to the fitbit servers.

I agree that it could have been designed differently but this is how fitbit chose to sync so it's not a bug.

Are the stats on your fitbit not good enough while you are offline?

Could you not enable data services on your phone when you run or are you trying to keep data costs down?
