I've just bought a Fitbit Zip for my Dad for his birthday.  Without taking a single step, according to the Fitbit Zip he has already burnt 685 calories??  Any idea how to reset this?

Also, he is use to having a pedometer where he has to input his stride length.  Do you need to do this on the Zip as well?

Thanks!

Hi, I bought a fitbit zip for my Dad for his birthday and it's showing that he has already burned 685 calories without taking a step?  Does anyone know how to reset it?

Also, does he need to enter his stride length so he can accurately measure his steps taken (like he did with his old pedometer?)

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forums @All

When you first get your Fitbit, you will see burned calories. The devices begin the day at midnight, so no matter what time you set up, those burned calories will be there. This article on burned calories may help you. click to read

What you're seeing is normal and won't make any difference with your Dad's step statistics. These can't be removed.

As for stride, I have mine where it goes by my age and height. Your Dad might want to set his and he can do that here - click

Nice of you to get the Zip for your Dad.
