Can't Setup with Mac

I cannot set up my fitbit zip on my MAC.  Following the prompts on the software eventually leads me to "plug the tracker into the base" and pushing the button.  A zip comes with no base and no button.  Eventually I'm told the device can't be found and to be sure it's plugged into the base.  There is no base.  I cannot seem to find information specifically for the zip.

Welcome to the Forums @ad23! This sounds odd. Please make sure that you're selecting the correct device during the set up. To check the set up process using a computer you can follow this post

The software is now totally installed, but I can't sync my zip.  I continually get the message that it cannot connect (the zip is sitting right on my computer and the dongel is connected).  I'm running out of patience......
