Display won't shut off/battery draining on TWO Zips

I replaced my original Zip with a new one about 18 months ago, after the battery started draining quickly (the original Zip was about 2 years old).

My second Zip worked fine until I replaced the battery about 5 months in, then the display wouldn't work at all. I searched the forum and found the fix (adjusting the clip) and the display worked fine for a month or so, then it started going through batteries too (about one a mo)nth.

In messing around with both Zips, I noticed that the display on both never (or rarely) shuts off. So I researched the forum again, and readjusted the clip on BOTH Zips, trying to find a happy medium between shutting the device off completely and having it display all the time. No luck. No matter how I tweak the battery clip, the display will not shut off on either Zip.

I will continue to try readjusting the battery clip to preserve battery life, but frankly I am VERY disappointed in this design flaw. I have worn Fitbits for several years and love them, but I don't feel I should have to repeatedly attempt to service my own products (especially with no results).

Can you please advise me as to what I might try next? Thank you!
