I purchased my FitBit in December and after 1 month of use the battery ran out. I bought 2 new ones, however after another week (!!!!) the first battery was already flat!!
How is it possible that it drains this fast if the promised battery life is 4-6 months??

Hey hey hey @michalka4589 welcome to our Community! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you for letting me know you already changed the battery of your Zip twice. Please know that sometimes the side spring may be bent as a result of improper battery insertion or pressure being applied to the back housing. Verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip tracker. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here.
Hope this helps, let me know how it goes!

I routinely get an email notifying me of a low battery within a week of installing a new one. I have stgarted ignoring this, and if I check after resyncing, the Dashboard shows a good battery. When the Zip becomes hard to sync, I know I really do have a low battery. I'm still only gettina a month or so from a battery, but that is better than replacing it weekly. It seems that there might be a software problem causing the Zip to improperly report battery status.

I am super frustrated with my zip as well!! I was having trouble with my zip syncing. So they suggested that the battery might have an issue or was not making good contact. After all of the suggestions they decided to just send me a new one, which was very gracious. So I have been happy with my new one, has had no issue syncing. A month ago it started flying through battery life and obviously as it gets low it has trouble syncing. So I am just plain anoyed. I want one that works! Should I try another type of tracker or do they have the same issue???

Eating batteries seems to be a chronic Fitbit problem. My first Zip worked well for many months then began destroying batteries. After trying every suggestion made by Fitbit customer service staff, I was sent a new Zip. Nice - but this one has the same battery-eating habits. I replaced the battery about two months ago, then again on January 26 and now I'm getting a message to replace again. I appreciate the features of the Zip but I do not appreicate having to replace the battery constantly - especially when the promise is a battery life of 4-6 months. What gives and when is the issue going to be resolved??

I've been having battery issues as well. This may be related to synching issues, I don't know.
But I bought the Fitbit in January of 2015 and it used maybe two batteries in the first ten months I had it. As of today it's not even getting through a single day on a battery.
It's not at all useful to me if this is true. Does the device simply not last for a year?

Same comment as others. This is my second Zip and still having the same problem. (The first was repaced - but the problelm remains.) I have tried everything recommended - and really don't want to see one more diagram of how the spring and battery should be in contact. It doesn't solve the issue! My Zip eats batteries. I guess I should feel lucky - this time I got a whole month out of the battery before it died ... and I lost all of my work for the day. When will FItbit get this fixed?? Either find a fix or recall the Zip and refund our purchase price. Believe me, the poor performance isn't enhancing the Fitbit brand!

It seems that Fitbit wants to maintain that this is a customer problem,(too stupid to properly insert a battery) rather than a problem with the device. It is high time that they look at fixing the real problem

I have tried every piece of advice offered by Fitbit folks - and none has resolves the issue. My Zip has gone through two batteries since I posted in February. Given the consistent complaints from Zip owners, it seems clear that there is a design flaw that Fitbit is either unable to or refuses to correct. I don't want to be told again that I should update software or check the battery tab. Those steps don't make a whit of difference. When will this battery issue be resolved? If Fitbit can't fix it, how about a recall and a reissue with a new and functional design? And in the meantime, it would be a good idea not to advertise that Zip batteries last 4-6 months. It's just not true.
