Fitbit pair and link

I had my Zip working fine on my old Galaxy J5 2016, I updated my phone to a Galaxy A34 installed the Fitbit app and now I can't get the Fitbit to sync.

The error message from the App is: "To sync reliably, let Fitbit link to Zip", I press OK an get a message "in order to improve your Fitbit experience you will need to Bluetooth Pair and Link your tracker with the Fitbit application". I can find no option for Pair an Link in the Fitbit App.

If I I try to scan for devices in the phone's Bluetooth the Fitbit device is not found (other devices are), the Fitbit battery is fresh and the display is on.

The Fitbit is showing the correct time, which, to me, implies the Fit has connected to something to pick up the correct time (which was wrong after I changed the battery.

Any advice

MTIA, Peter

Probably would have been safer to have removed fitbit from old phone first, but think you're still okay. Suspect you just need to add Zip to this phone.  Unless you already did with this phone, from phone app Today screen:

Profile pic (top left) > + Set up a Device > Zip and follow prompts.  Hopefully it won't say you already have one connected.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks JohnnyRow,
one step (!) closer now, that process got a connect code to appear on the Zip which worked so the phone and the Zip are definitely talking, still won't sync though and the Zip still doesn't appear in the phone's BlueTooth list. Will try some more troubleshooting when I have some time and report back on any success . . .

One further investigation If I manually sync via:
Zip home screen > Accounts > Zip > Sync Now
it appears to sync OK, and shows the time of last sync though when I go to the FitBit home screen it shows zero steps even though the Zip shows some steps.

When the Fitbit App attempts to sync on opening or if I attempt a manual sync from the App home screen the message:
"To sync reliably, let Fitbit link to Zip"
and does not show the steps. If I repeat the manual sync from the home screen it does then show the steps.

So in summary the App appears to be syncing OK but there's a bug in the App that gives the spurious "To sync reliably, let Fitbit link to Zip" message and fails to update the step count.

Thanks for the help from JohnnyRow in getting this resolved.

I too can't get my zip to connect past add device part . My galaxy s21 sees the zip and the zip displays a connect code. But when I enter the code my phone sets in the connecting phase until it prompts "failed to connect " and returns to the previous screen. I called support and started a trouble ticket. No resolution yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you've entered the code I think it may be working, I keep getting error messages (the "To sync reliably, let Fitbit link to Zip" message is permanently there), but eventually it seems to connect and uploads the data. Maybe try opening and closing the App a few times when the Zip's definitely awake to force an attempt to connect.
