If you have verified that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip as @vomitofthemind stated here without luck, please be so kind to reach out Customer Support. Let them know the workarounds performed. They might be able to provide further assistance as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if it's necessary, you can add steps to your account by manually logging activities like Walking, Running or Hiking.
