My zip went crazy this morning! Lots of excess steps

I woke up around 6 this morning, put on the zip and started my normal Sunday morning routine, and around 9:30 discovered the zip had logged about 40,000 steps - over 20 miles - since I had put it on. I think I'd remember if I had walked 20 miles in 3 hours instead of eating breakfast and drinking coffee, so I have one of two problems:

1. I went on a massive speedwalk while in a waking dream state, or 

2. My fitbit went berzerk.

 

Has anyone seen the same problem, and is there a way I can correct my stats on the dashboard?

I took my dog for a short walk, and wandered around Home Depot for a half hour.  My Zip gave me credit for over 129,000 steps/71 miles.  Might be time to throw it away.

I just noticed that my Zip gave me credit for 297,822 steps/163.2 miles yesterday... While I was on the lake sailing...

My Zip went crazy this morning I had over 50,000 steps after doing my workout and I was not running!

I had to take the battery out and put it back in to get it to stop.  I ended up taking it off for the day because it would not have been a true account of my steps anyway.
