Not syncing with Windows 10

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was prompted by my desktop to download an update for my Fitbit app (Windows 10). Since doing so I am unable to sync my Fitbit and according to my Fitbit dashboard I've not taken any steps since the update was installed. Is there anything I can do?

Nice to see you here @crazydiamond!  Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. Please double check the following:

  • The Fitbit app for Windows 10 is installed.
  • Fitbit Connect software is not installed. The quickest way to find out is to look for an icon with the Fitbit logo near the date and time on your computer screen. If you see this icon, uninstall Fitbit Connect using the same process for uninstalling any program.

  • The Bluetooth setting is on that lets your computer communicate with your tracker. To verify, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth. If you can't find this setting and don't know whether your computer supports Bluetooth, this blog explains how to check for Bluetooth compatibility.

  • If your computer doesn't support Bluetooth, it can still communicate with your tracker if you plug in the wireless sync dongle that came in the box with your tracker. For more information, particularly if your box didn't have a dongle, see What is the wireless sync dongle and how do I use it?

Hi Lucy,

I've spent the entire day trying to sort this. Nothing works. When I used
to open the old app there was a button to press and it synced my Fitbit to
the dashboard. The new app doesn't have that facility.

I've tried downloading the Fitbit app to my phone instead of using my
desktop. It has the sync facility but won't work. The Bluetooth on my phone
has found my Fitbit but can't connect. I have a BlackBerry Passport and
downloaded the app from Amazon. On BlackBerry forums other users were
saying they were using the android app on their BlackBerry without
problems.

Can you send me a link to download Fitbit Connect. I've tried to google it
but I just keep getting sent round in circles.

This is 3 days now I've done little else but try and sort this. I feel like
throwing it in the bin except it cost too much money.

Thank you for trying to help but nothing has worked.

Thanks for your reply @crazydiamond! I'm sorry that this is taking so long. At the moment, BlackBerry devices are a non compatible device. You can check our compatible device list here. To download, Fitbit Connect you can go to Fitbit.com/setup.

Can you please confirm that you have tried these steps:

  1. From the Start menu go to Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure you see your tracker on the list of devices with the word “Connected” below.
  2. If your tracker isn't connected:
    1. Tap or click the tracker name and choose Remove Device.
    2. Make sure your tracker is nearby and wait for it to reappear in the devices list.
    3. When it does, tap or click the tracker again and choose Pair. The pairing process can take several minutes but when its done the Bluetooth status should change to “Connected.”
  3. If your tracker is connected but won't sync, its possible your computer's Bluetooth signal is weak or temporarily compromised. Try plugging in the wireless sync dongle (most trackers) or charging cable (Blaze) to sync your tracker with the app.

Please keep me updated so I can continue assisting you! 😉

Hey there @crazydiamond, I saw your post while searching how to resolve the same problem on my Zip. Hopefully, you resolved the problem.  It took a while but I was able to fix the problem this way

1. Under Control Panel, I verified Fitbit Connect was not loaded/running - it isn't needed without the dongle

2. Verified the ZIP was Bluetooth-paired to the laptop - it was

3. Logged into my Fitbit account

4. Under Dashboard, there is an icon at the top of the screen, located next to the to edit/pencil that allows you to select the type of Fitbit you have (I don't recall it's name, it became an image of the Zip once I set it up) - select that icon

5. Select the Fitbit device you're using and the rest of the setup was automatic.  Once done, the Zip reset all readings to zero and reset the clock to the correct time.

6. Ensure the device is syncing. I unchecked sync all day sync in the settings, not sure why but I figured that process would be running in background all day and I use the phone app or that purpose when I walk or run.

Hope this helps.
