What's going on with the Zip?

Earlier today, I was trying to solve a problem with my mother's Fitbit Zip (Win 7). Let me make 2 things clear before I go any further:

 

1. I did not have my own Zip with me at the time. She only has one Zip.

2. I have never used my Zip on her computer.

 

I saw that for the last week or so, people are complaining that their Zip is claiming that they have more than one device and won't sync and makes them go through a log in. This, too, was my mother's problem. While the Fitbit would update on her dashboard, she could not sync manually.

 

Then I came home and found that my Zip, too, won't sync manually, either (Win 10). I get no message about multiple devices, I just see that my device is deemed "disconnected" despite sitting on top of the dongle. 

 

In both cases, I reset the Zip, and in the first case I reinstalled the software after a reboot in between. I altered the contacts on the first Zip (I'd already done this on mine a few weeks ago when I kept getting notifications that my fresh (and tested) battery was getting low. 

 

What's going on, Fitbit?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @sideliner, hope you're doing great Woman Very Happy! I'd recommend following the I can't sync my tracker steps to solve the issue. 

 

If by any chance you have a mobile device compatible with Fitbit, I'd like you to try syncing with it so we can figure out if the issue is just with the computer or with both (phone and computer).

 

Give it a shot and let me know the outcome!

Thanks for your response.

 

I can sync via bluetooth but not via the dongle on my Zip. Bluetooth's not an option with my mother's Zip.

Thanks for getting back @sideliner! Please check this thread which has been updated in regards to this issue. 

As we discussed, In the meantime, you should be able to sync successfully by using a compatible mobile device if possible.
