Zip Fit - it adds steps when I record my treadmill run

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I see from other posts that I cannot set my zip to automatically recording RUNNING on a treadmill.  So, when I add my run, it automatically adds a certain amount of steps - incorrectly!  Today, it added a random 1379, yesterday it added about 1800.  Does anyone know how to simply fix this and/or how to set the zip to record my run on a tread?

Thanks for stopping by @patk92673! he SmartTrack feature automatically recognizes select exercises to ensure you get credit for your most active moments of the day. It is available with all Fitbit devices except Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit One, and Fitbit Zip.

The best option for a Treadmill option is not to wear the tracker during the activity. Manually logging an activity works well for those activities where step count isn't the best indicator of the calories burned. If you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like cycling or swimming), or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), you can use the activity log to improve the accuracy of this activity's contribution to your caloric burn.

Also, if you want to remove this extra steps you can negate them by logging a Driving activity.

I hope this helps! 🙂
