I am having the same problem the last tow days. I changed the battery and that helped yesterday. Now today it is not working again. I have tried turning off and on bluetooth. Turning my phone off, nothing works. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
So, I followed the steps I found in another reply:
1) Turn off phone
2) Remove battery for 10 seconds
3) Reinstall battery (+ side up)
4) Turn on telephone.
That helped today. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

This did not work for me. One detail that no one has mentioned is, when I try to sync my phone to the zip, I get a message saying: "Pairing rejected by Zip".
Best AnswerJimH, I have not had that error message show - I sync to my Samsung Galaxy S7. It takes a few tries on some days but it eventually syncs.
Best AnswerYou must be lucky 🙂
In my case only the well documented remove battery/reinsert method works 😞

This really needs to be addressed, particularly given that the issue is widespread. The work around is both cumbersome and damaging.
I am having same problem as all of you. All of a sudden my Zip quit working a few days ago, only would give me a smiley face and wouldn't respond to tapping. Took battery out and it started working again but now won't sync unless I take the battery out and put back in every day. Very frustrating.
Best AnswerMy wife's zip has started not syncing unless we do the battery removal exercise.
The sync has never been good but now it's very bad.
Best AnswerI have Galaxy S7 and I can't get it to sync unless I take battery out and replace. Not a problem before until a few days ago. Firmware version 5.90.
Best AnswerNote - remember when I said I would wait & see what future days brought? Well, I have now built in a nightly battery pull/replace and then syncing right before I head to bed. What a royal pain!
Best AnswerThere are quite a few postings from us Zip users that we can't sync anymore unless we take the battery out and put it back in. This is really unacceptable to have to do this daily. Has anyone gotten any official word from Fitbit of why this is happening and/or if the problem will be fixed? There are a number of free step counting apps on our phones. Along with my Zip I use Samsung Health, has as many if not more bells and whistles as Fitbit. Yes, I have to carry my phone all of the time but now it's second nature. There are options out there if our Zips aren't going to work properly.
