Zip resetting multiple times per day

My ZIp is resetting the step count multiple times per day.  I usually have between 7000 and 13000 steps per day, depending on what work I'm doing that day.  Some days, my Zip works just fine.  On other days, it will randomly reset to O steps.  As an example, this morning I was outside build a shed and was up to 5000+ steps by 11:30 a.m when I came in for a break.  Went back outside and worked for another 1-1/2 hours.  When I came in for lunch, I only had 516 steps.  After lunch, I went outside and continued working on the shed.  When I came in around 5 pm, I have a whopping 292 steps.

This happens at least 2x per week.  After searching the forums, I have removed/replaced the battery at least a dozen times, replaced the battery 2x even without receiving a low battery notifcation, and tried cleaning the battery contacts.  I'm down to maybe waving a fresh cut off chicken foot over it at midnight in the light of a new moon.

How do I get this thing to start working right again?

Hi @waynez1122

Since the issue remains after removing.. the battery and no timezone issue as it would then restart a new day once a day if using a incorrect timezone..

This has started happening to me too.  My zip has started to lose time.  Meaning when I look at it the time is completely off!!  When I sync it to my itouch it will come back.

Also it keeps resetting itself and zeroing out everything for the day.

HELP!!!  This is so frustrating.  I am in some heated challenges and I want to put up good numbers and I cannot with it resetting itself several times a day!!!

Wah...................

@waynez1122 @Libby117 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! That is very strange! I recommend performing a restart on your Zip first and check if the issue remains (check @AlejandraFitbit's steps on that post). Also, while doing the restart check the inside of the tracker as the side spring may be bent as a result of improper battery insertion or pressure being applied to the back housing. Verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip tracker. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here

If still nothing, follow @SunsetRunner's suggestions and report the problem to customer support.

Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

I believe it is simply a loose connection with in the battery harness. lift the silver tab a bit to tighten the batteries connection. if u still have problems add a thin piece of matearial to help secure the connection.

I am having the same problem. I have contacted customer service and received a new one. It does the same thing. It seems like a product defect. I'm fed up and looking for a new device with Garmin.

@Lawfox Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Glad to hear you got your replaced! Try the steps on the video I posted on my previous reply. Sometimes it is just a false contact from the battery and not a product defect. It should help you resolve this issue.

Try that out and let me know how it goes!

This does not work!!This has happened before with MANY of their devices!!!  This will be my 5th zip.  I have had 5 because they keep breaking down, the same way - turning themselves off, restarting, losing time, steps, etc.  They have sent me replacements before because they know it is a software issue that they cannot control.Ugh............I am so frustrated with this!!!
