Zip will not pair with s9 after phone update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My zip was syncing fine until my s9 had an update.   Now the zip will not pair with my phone.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app.  I have taken the battery out of the zip.  I have attempted to change settings on the app and my phone.  My phone's bluetooth and location are on.  Still no luck.  My phone will find my zip but says it cannot pair and to check device settings. Fitbit keeps popping a message that my zip and my app need linked.  Please help.

Vivofit 3. It's a band but you can buy a clip for it

Like everyone else, my Zip stopped syncing after the Android update.  Fitbit support's first response was clearly not helpful, and it wasn't until I tried reinstalling the app that I discovered how many others were having the same issue. Fitbit reached out to me after I gave support a very poor review, where I said don't tell me I'm doing something wrong as the first course of action, ESPECIALLY when so many others are having the same problem.  Fitbit Support then acknowledged there's an issue, and they are working to correct it.  Just tell me that.

Now, having said that, it's certainly possible the latest Android upgrade is making a fix difficult for Fitbit.  And the Zip is an older technology (I replaced my One with a Zip, not sure why the One was discontinued, I really don't like the wrist-tech).  Fitbit Support should just give us updates on where they are with a fix.  That's all I expect. In the meantime, I have to settle for syncing on my computer - thankfully I didn't misplace my little "dongle."

@smseisen, agreed totally, I end up doing the inconvenient way of syncing the zip.

I have tried everything under the sun to sync the zip and all Fitbit support wants to do is to sell me another new unit.  I think they are replying on Samsung to fit the s/w.

Been  a zip carrier since 2013 and never had an issue until now. I agree wholeheartedly with the disappointment. Will give it a week and then make the move elsewhere

Looks like Garmin has a vivoki clip that looks similar to the zip. I'm going to try it.

Excellent. Thanks for the tip. Real shame FB can't keep up with new phones,  I wonder how they are doing with the S10.

Same here and I, too, mark it to the recent Samsung update.  Removing the battery every day will get old soon.

I have the SYNC ANSWER but it is not very eloquent.  I tried the reset, I tried the reinstall, I actually tried all suggestions to no avail.  I had a galaxy S5 active that started not syncing and had very low battery life.  I just upgraded to a Galaxy S10+, reloaded the Fitbit app, enabled location, etc.  NO sync.

The solution - Open the app and have it try to sync (I have all day sync and always connected on but that didn't do a thing for the syncing).  TAKE THE BATTERY COVER OFF the back of your ZIP for about 5 seconds (so it doesn't lose that day's data).  Put the cover back on, reconnecting the battery.  In about 10 seconds, the ZIP will resync with the app and update all saved data.  Only problem for me is that I need FitBit to send me a new back battery cover, since I have destroyed the slot removing it once per day since I found the cure.  It works every time unless I don't have the battery out quite long enough.  Hope this helps all.

Sorry, but that doesn't help at all. Most of us already know that taking the
battery out every day will allow you to sync to Galaxy phones 9 and up. The
fix we need is for the Zip product and our Samsung phone to sync on their
own and operate properly without any monkeying around with taking battery
out and so forth.

Vivoki.  Looks like the zip.

Also. I have synced 3 times this past week all by itself. Little glimmer of hope but it still does sync when I prompt it to it. I'm still changich to garmin. I'm over Fitbit's terrible response to this.

My zip also won't sync on its own anymore. I have reset it almost every day since the update and it only syncs when it is first reset, not after. I have uninstalled the app & reinstalled it. I deleted my zip off the app and re-added it as a new one. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've removed the battery and reinstalled it daily. Please help!

I've gotten the impression from what I've read here,  Fitbit will fix it when it fixes it.  Got it to measure steps.  Like the phone functionality but it isn't imperative. Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8.
