best place to wear zip, stride length, activity level

Although I have read a number of articles in the community, I still have a few unresolved questions.

The zip has determined my stride length. However, my step count doesn't always seem accurate.

I tried to change the stride length, but it didn't make a difference. So I am beginning to think

that the inaccuracies come from slightly different step lengths as I walk. I am 5'5"

Fitbit determines my activity level. In other apps, there is a default. My understanding is that

there is no default activity level, only personalized or sedentary. Comments?

If I wear my zip in my pocket I get a slightly higher step count. Best place to wear the zip?
I usually wear it attached to my belt.

Thanks!

Hi there @brucesharon, good to see you around. Your tracker with default settings regarding the stride length, usually is determined by your personal settings, so if you enter a personalize stride length and it doesn't present a variation, is due to the default settings are close to your actual measurement.

About your concern of the activity level I wonder if are you referring to the food plan? Please let me know more details so I can give you a better insight of this.

For a male user, I think the best place to use your Zip is as you mentioned before. Zip should not be worn in close contact with the skin as it may interfere the reading of your movements. A shirt pocket, pants pocket, belt, or waistband are all ideal places to wear your Zip.

Hope this helps and if you have additional questions, let me know.

Thanks for your reply, Roberto. It's easier putting the zip in my pocket so it won't get lost. As long as that is a good place to accurately record steps, I'd rather put the Zip in my pocket.

I was wondering if the app underestimates how many calories I can eat a day. Compared to other apps, it is considering my activity level as lightly active, although I generally have over 10k per day.

It seems that the Fitbit app doesn't have presets for activity levels. Please clarify this. So I'll rely on the personalized settings.

Thanks!

Bruce
