App Historical Data Not Accurate

ANSWERED

My wife carries her FitBit One religiously and it is still very accurate (steps, distance and floors).  It syncs with the Fitbit app on her iPhone throughout the day with an accurate total by days end.  However, when she looks at history the next day, the numbers are far lower than they were the night before (as much as 2/3rd lower).  At the end of the day yesterday, the App (and the tracker) showed she walked over 11K steps.  But this morning, the history in the app says she walked only a little over 3K steps yesterday.    History for the past several days is all way off.   I reinstalled the app for her thinking it was a log problem but when reinstalled, the history was still incorrect.  This seems to be a sync problem between the App and the Servers because the device is always accurate throughout and at the end of each day.   Thoughts?

@LZeeW I suppose you are probably correct.  It's just super sad that @Fitbit won't just come out and say that so we can stop trying and talking about it.  Most of the threads in this community board seem to talk about problems that don't get addressed, other than the moderators copy/paste "reinstall the app" advice.  I suppose it's just the new way of doing business in 2026.  In days gone by, companies worked with, and communicated with, their customers.  The funny part is, two years ago I bought my wife a spiffy new Fitbit but she hated it because it doesn't track stairs/floors so that's why she went back to her trusty old Fitbit One.   She's decided to keep using it until it dies and just do an app screen capture at the end of each day to manually record her history.   When it dies, we'll just shop for a better supported product.

Hi @Stewj2005Welcome on board to our community forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your wife's device is not syncing accurately. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this.

In this case please check if the Phone is connected as a device in her Fitbit app. This feature interferes with the synchronization between the app and Fitbit devices.

To find this option please follow the next instructions:

  • From the Today tab in the Fitbit app on her phone, tap Devices in the upper left corner.
  • Tap Phone > disconnect

If the phone is not connected to the app, try checking any available software updates and also restarting the phone and device.

Phone was connected to the app so I disconnected it.   We'll test it tonight with a screen capture and see what the history looks like tomorrow morning.  Thank you for the response.

After turning off the phone connection to the Fitbit app yesterday the results we the same overnight last night.  Attached are two screen captures.  The first was taken at 10:39pm last night showing 11,775 steps for the day.  The second, a lookback at yesterdays history, was taken at 7:15am this morning and it shows only 131 steps for yesterday.

I have checked the software versions for the phone and app as well as the firmware for the Fitbit One tracker.  All three have the latest versions available.  The phone was restarted yesterday when I reinstalled the Fitbit app fresh from the App Store.

Phone:  iPhone 14 with IOS 26.4.2

Fitbit App:  ver 4.68

Fitbit One Firmware:  ver 6.64

Since the tracker and App are in sync throughout the day, I doubt this can be a problem with the tracker device but rather a sync problem between the app and the Fitbit servers.

Oddly, since I disconnected my wifes phone from the Fitbit app as suggested by @MariLuFitbit, it's daily history now is 0 (ZERO) for all activities each day since the disconnection.  Prior to the disconnection the history was holding on to at least some small amount of her activity (albeit very little) but now it's just zero.   Thankfully her tracker still talks to the app throughout the day so she's just been taking a manual screenshot at the end of each day to manually keep track of her history.  Hopefully that's just temporary until @Fitbit can get their synchronization problem figured out.

Hi @Stewj2005 and @CityLionNice to see you here.

@Stewj2005, I am sorry to hear that your daily history is not showing. To better assist you, I suggest reaching out to our Support Team, who will be able to take a closer look into this issue and provide further help. This form is only meant for your use. Please click here to get access to it.

@CityLion Could you please share more information with me? I recommend disconnecting the Phone option from the app, as it interferes with synchronization between the app and Fitbit devices. If you received a message requesting to connect the phone, I would like to investigate it further.

@Stewj2005   I charged my trusty old One and added it on to a second account.  Steps and floors got counted and it looked like everything was syncing.  When I tapped on the steps or floor icon to see steps/floors each hour, there was nothing on either graph.  I feel like the One, a legacy device that was discontinued in late 2017, is no longer compatible with current versions of the Fitbit app.
