I try to open the Fitbit app but it immediately closes.  I restarted my phone but that didn't help.

As of today, the Fitbit iOS app will no longer run on either our iPad or iPhone. We are running the latest version of iOS (12.1.4 (16D57)) and the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Anyone else having a similer problem?

Best Answer

Yes, same problem here. I just tried starting the app and it immediately crashes and returns me to the home screen before I see anything in the app.

If I look at the app switcher, I see the Fitbit app screen and it looks fine, but if I try to switch to it I’m immediately dropped back to the home screen again.

I tried restarting my iPhone but that didn’t help. I haven’t tried deleting and reinstalling the app as I’m afraid that I might lose my Fitbit data.

I see that the app was recently updated to v2.88, so it sounds like that update may have an issue.

@raamdev Hi - I am not familiar with the workings of IOS equipment but a possible work around so you can try the APP re-install would be to try and access the site via internet (not the app) this will show you the point at which the data log is at (check something like Heart Rate or cals burned as this will be in periodic increments against your device) if the data is close it is saved on the main server and you will not lose this any remainder should be still available on the device for the next sync - you could wait for a fix if it is a fault with the update but it may take longer than the device can store - also if the data on device correlates to whats on your dashboard it should be safe to re-install the app (im assuming home page is dashboard and not log in page.

also you could try and call support to see if it is a known issue before deleting . reinstalling anything and they may be able to give you a few more solutions

Hope this Helps

Thanks, @ashwolve!

Deleting and reinstalling the app seems to have fixed it for me and I don’t seem to have lost any data.

I'll make sure to forward this information to our team so they can be aware of it. Please note that all data gets stored in our servers and not on your phone, so when you install the app back, you will still be able to see your data from previous days.

I've never even been on this forum before so was glad to see someone already asked the question when I started looking.  Exact same thing for me.  Haven't been able to open app on iPhone 8 last three days.  Turned phone off two different times but app flashes open and immediately closes.

Same issue.  Have an iPhone 7 Plus (ios 12.1.4) and unable to open the app.  Looks like it is opening and then just crashes.  This appears to be happening ever since the latest Fitbit update (v2.88).  Frustrating and would appreciate some insight.  Have tried restarting phone with no luck.

Hello @Jankabar@LeePorter and @MarcelSue, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I would also like to thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. At this moment, I would like to ask you to uninstall the Fitbit app, then restart your phone and install it again. Note that your Fitbit device can store up to 7 days of detailed information so the next time you sync all the data saved in the device will be synced. Additionally, the data already synced to your account gets stored in our servers and not your phone, which means that once you log in to your account again, you will be able to see this data.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

Same here. Uninstalled the app and restarted my phone. No luck, it didn’t fix the problem. I have an iPhone X. I’ve contacted support 3 times and haven’t had any response at all. I’ve even tweeted them. Nothing.

iPhone X. I followed your instructions. No luck. Are you guys working on another solution? It would be nice to be able to open the app and sync my device, since I just bought a new Fitbit.

They don’t appear to be working on a fix. I’ve contacted support several times and have gotten no response at all. The problem seems to be on all phones. I have an iPhone X

Same issue here on iPhone X.

After uninstalling / reinstalling I had the login screen and once I entered my details it crashed again. And now it crashes as soon as I open it.

We need a fix asap
