App won't open-no internet connection

My Fitbit app was malfunctioning...saying internet connection required even though there was internet connectivity. I tried deleting and then reinstalling the app. Now it won't let me log in claiming that I need an internet connection. I am doing this post on the same phone, so I obviously have an internet connection. I am getting frustrated...have had problems since updating earlier this week.

Welcome to the Forums @cmmartin.

That sounds very bothersome. I'd like to ask you some questions to better understand the situation:

  • Do you have any antivirus or firewall software installed on your mobile that could be blocking the app from connecting to the internet?
  • Have you tried restarting your phone?
  • Is your device fully updated?
  • Have you tried using a different connection? Like another Wi-Fi if you're connecting through one or perhaps a mobile data plan?

Look forward to your reply so that can find the best way to move forward.

The answers to your questions are:

no antivirus software

yes to restarting phone

yes to phone fully updated

yes to using a different connection

Nothing I tried worked; however, later that day, it suddenly just started working again and has been fine since then.

Hey @cmmartin.

Thanks for replying. That sounds very interesting. It could have been some sort of glitch so I'd expect it to be a one time thing. Nevertheless, I'd say we keep our eyes open in case it happens again.

Please do let me know if you have any further questions.
