There are at least 2 different threads out there discussing popups or these today insight messages. Links have been provided. I’m wondering if maybe they are related in any way to “fitbit premium.” Like if I pay for premium will the popups stop? The issue appears to be that some people receive them and some don’t. I’m one of the ones receiving them and they seem to have started when that premium option appeared on my phone.
@SunsetRunner you stated that you don’t receive the popups in both threads. I’m not sure if it’s OK to ask, but do you use the fitbit premium option? I’m only asking because I think there is a greater probability of you using it as maybe Fitbit provided it to you for your services on the forum.
I don’t subscribe to the premium and I receive the popups
@Whocares99 @davecullen @glaenzchen do any of you guys subscribe to the fitbit premium
@glaenzchen is it possible your girlfriend signed up for the premium or maybe started that free 7 day trial?
Is there anyway fitbit can provide more information about the popups? Do we all get the same popups or are they different for ever user? Right now, I have one “Find your way to healthy habits”. If I click it I’m given a bunch of guided programs where one is free and the rest are locked. Clicking the locked one takes me to an ad to buy fittbit premium!

Hi @SunsetRunner , nice to see you back, thank you for your help, information and comments. They have been very helpful and accurate.
Hi @thenameless1, nice to see you around, thank for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I'll be glad to explain the pop ups in the app.
They are not depending if one purchase Premium or not. The insights are shown to everyone, but for Premium users they show you tips and insights based on your personal data like sleep, heart rate, running time, etc. so that they are personalized for you specifically. Non Premium users will receive the insights based on demographics, people with the same age, height, weight, etc.
When you receive an insight pop up, you'll have the option to vote "Thumbs up" or "thumbs down" to provide feedback. This helps the app to know when to show or not these. Depending on your choice, if you vote with thumbs up the insights will be prompting regularly. If you vote with a thumbs down, the insights will not be shown regularly. If you continue voting the insights down, that specific insight will stop been shown.
The other kind of pop ups that can be seen are sales, special offers, news, available updates. All these "pop ups" are to inform the user about the new things that Fitbit has to offer. They are shown to all users, Premium and non Premium.
These appear if you haven't opened the Fitbit app in a while, so that you can get up to speed with Fitbit during the time the app was off. Many users, do not sync regularly (more that once in a day) as they want to spare the mobile device's and the Fitbit's battery, so this is how Fitbit makes sure that everyone is informed about the news.
Most of the users will receive a pop up about Premium. This is not to state that you'll need Premium to use any Fitbit. It is to inform about the new service and features that we offer.
If anyone is receiving any pop up add that is not related to Fitbit, this might be caused if you downloaded the Fitbit app from an unknown source, where these adds are added. That is why we recommend to use the App Store or Google Play to download the Fitbit app.
By the way, after reviewing once again the thread quoted here about not receiving insights after Premium was purchased, I noticed that it was posted on November. This situation was reported then to our team and they are working on solutions for the users affected. We have updated our apps (iOS and Android) several times. That's why we always recommend to have the firmware and app up to date.
Please do not hesitate if you have further questions.

Hello again @thenameless1
As I have stated before. I don’t get these pop ups as you described. I did when I first started using Fitbit just under two years ago, when I purchased my Alta HR (which is the same one I use today). My memory was there was a way to disable them back then. But, again my memory may be wrong. It was quite some time ago. Now on to your premium theory....I just started premium on 15 Dec of this year and “again” I still do not get pop ups.
The help article here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2435 States this:
You’ll see messages in the Fitbit app that give you personal insight into your health and wellness based on your Fitbit data. These messages may be about general wellness, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep patterns, and more.
So, my answer to your question is that I don’t feel that purchasing or not purchasing the Premium Membership has any bearing on the pop ups you are describing.
I can only suggest you vote here to allow individuals to disable this feature as it has already been suggested already: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Option-to-disable-quot-Fitbit-Today-Insights-quo...

@SunsetRunner it's nice to be back!
I'm just trying to troubleshoot these issues with the information at hand. I'm not really opposed to these popups. You click it and it goes away and some are interesting nothing bad about it.
I've had my flex since 2014 and upgraded to my Blaze when it was released. I'm in a similar situation as i don't remember what settings were available that long ago, but it was only recently that these pop ups started or at least since I've been getting them. The user who opened the request to have them removed reported them in August 2019, just 4 months ago.
All we know at this point is you and I have have been using Fitbit for an extended period of time you don't get the popups, but i do. The only difference is you have premium and i don't. I think its a situation where we kind of hold back and see if there are some more responses, but we also don't know much about the popups at this point. Do we get a different one each day? If so, than according to my theory if someone opts into the trial then they won't receive them for 7 days.
Hopefully the ones i originally tagged will respond as well so we can get more insight into the issue.

But you missing the point @thenameless1
I didn’t have the pop ups BEFORE the premium either. I got the premium only 3 days ago and again no pop ups now either. So having premium or not having premium made no difference at all.

@SunsetRunner I'm not sure I'm missing the point. It's possible I might be misinformed, but all i have is a theory at this point.
You have had the community council logo under your name for a lot longer then 3 days haven't you? According to this link https://community.fitbit.com/html/assets/CommunityCouncilGuidelines.pdf Fitbit provides you guys (and i'm assuming employees) with the premium at no cost. Is it possible you may have had it for a while, but only just started using it in the past 3 days?
Based on the feature request in the link you provided. No one was receiving the popups prior to August 2019. Based off of that information it doesn't matter what happened before that date. Since currently it's only me and you in this thread the next logical question would be to ask if you were a community council member in August 2019 (Maybe September 2019 if you didn't update the app) because it might explain why you haven't received them as the premium would have extended back to that period. Please don't feel forced to answer the question your status or anyone else as a council member has nothing to do with the theory. The theory is that people who have the premium membership aren't receiving the popups and those who don't have premium are receiving it.
It's just a working theory and hopefully more people will comment so we can get a better grip on the situation that the other users are having.

Hello again @thenameless1
Wow I think we can put this “mystery” in the solved file! 😃
I dig around and found this thread:https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Insights-and-motivations-on-top-of-screen/idi-p/...
Pay special attention to what the moderator says in her post. 😉

@SunsetRunner I remember those "insight" settings now! They used to appear under each option like sleep, logging food and so on. It was a pain and i do like them in there current spot. Keep in mind i'm not opposed to the popups. It's no different then getting a text message or notification on the phone, just here it's in the app. So, i was wrong these things did exist for a while! In my defense though they didn't always appear on the main screen and as obtrusive as they are now. In the past it was out of sight out of mind.
As for the rest of the information in the link i think we are just going to have to agree to disagree as it pertains to the issue the others brought up and mine.
The recent link you provided mentions that the feature was added, but it also appeared the same time as the feature request to have it removed (i'm accounting for some time on fitbit's end to address the update or address on the forum). I'm not too sure fitbit would remove something they just put in.
It also doesn't address why the other users are receiving the "insight" messages and you aren't. It's still the same problem, but we can word it differently. Why aren't premium members receiving the today "insight" popups? I would especially be upset as a premium member to find out i didn't have the app functionality of someone who isn't a member.
I do believe that you solved their initial concern though!
However, my concern was more or less of it appearing to be that you can pay to have these popups removed by subscribing to premium. Or maybe it's possible at this point we have discovered a "bug" as it pertains to the premium membership.
Either way it would still be good to find out if we are dealing with a "bug" or if this the intended behavior as it pertains to the premium membership

I've been browsing the forums and came across the thread below. It appears that this user stopped receiving the "insight" messages while they had a premium subscription. Once the premium was cancelled the user than started receiving them again. This is also consistent with @SunsetRunner not receiving the "insight" messages
At this point it appears that we can pay to have the insight messages removed. Granted its a little expensive most apps only charge $1 to remove ads.
I'm going to mark this as the best choice answer.

This is not correct. I didn’t receive insights before either so it is not consistent with your theory. Your assumption is just that....an assumption. You can not base facts on one post. I will flag a moderator for clarification.

@JuanFitbit I just want to make sure we are on the same page here because there is still a lot im not understanding. I've included a screen shot of the popup that i've been referencing. No reference to the any other ads or popups just these.
1. I've had my fitbit for 5 years and @SunsetRunner has had hers for 2. She was grandfathered into not seeing these pop ups and i wasn't?
2. In order for me to stop seeing these popups all i have to do or anyone else is hit the down vote and they will stop forever?
3. Your saying that the user in the other thread wasn't receiving the insights was because they didn't have an updated app? The user in that post believed it had to do with the premium membership and they started receiving the popups just after the premium was canceled. If you check their post timeline with the fitbit app update timeline available here https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2025 you will see that are discrepancies between the app updates and the resolution of their issue and that the app update had nothing to do with them receiving the messages. Am i reading that right or interpreting the information correctly?
