Hello @Bookman60 and a warm welcome.  The Aria 2 is a freestanding device -- you don't need a Fitbit tracker in order to set up an Aria 2, although I suspect most users do.

I found a writeup on my issue in the troubleshooting guide. The app did not explain how to select who was using the scale. It is a tap on the top to the right to accept the current user icon or to the left to get another.
