Background sync turned off by Fitbit, still getting notifications all day to turn it on (I did)

Comments are closed on all relevant posts I can find. I have iPhone and charge 3. I read that they disabled the background sync feature. So why do I constantly get notifications to allow background sync when it’s turned on and I’ve tried all suggestions PLUS it being a disabled feature? I tried to contact support but the links are broken. I’m old because I’m over 30 and I don’t understand overly complicated things. If it says to turn it on and I do, it should work. But no, it it’s caught up in other steps. No wonder everyone is anxious. I think I’ll go back to my cheap step counter that actually told me how many steps I needed per hour to hit my goal. It was straightforward. So why buy Fitbit for more if it does less?

Do you leave the Fitbit app running in the background on your phone, rather than completely closing it?  It needs that to sync.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
