Hi,
After a large meal this evening I was playing a particularly intense video game. Over the course of about 15 minutes my heart rate kept jumping up to around 115 BPM (checking on the device), before dropping back down to around 90 BPM, going up and down with each tense moment, all fairly normal.
When I checked my BPM timeline in the Fitbit app for that 15 minutes, at the end of the 15 mins, it showed an average BPM of around 103 for the first 5 mins, 108 for the next 5 mins, and 113 for the final 5 mins. Once the action died down my heart rate was straight back to a normal 80 BPM.
About 30 minutes after I finished the game I checked my heart rate timeline again and for the same period it now showed 93 BPM for the first 5 mins, 103 BPM for the second 5 minute period and 104 BPM for the third.
I was wondering if somebody can explain for me what is going on here? Is there an error with the earlier readings? Does the average get corrected somehow at a later date, perhaps from a cloud service rather than a local device calculation? Or after a while does the app remove short-term BPM spikes from adrenaline rushes etc, perhaps because they're seen as anomalies?
Any clarification on what is going on would be appreciated.
