Can’t categorize training

Anyone els but me who has trouble to categorize training? When I search in the list notting is shown. Before I were able to manage this, for example an exercise who were automatically registred as sport I could chance to “horseback riding”, but since one month back it’s not possible.

What to do?!

Hello @FruEkberg and @Fingeborg and welcome to the forums.  I said in an earlier post that I suspect that this is a language/region issue.  I believe the app screenshot given by @SunsetRunner is Norwegian.  Are your apps in another language?  Where are you located?

I suspect that Fitbit did not make this feature available in all languages.  Try changing the language to English and see if that helps.

Hello @SunsetRunner and a warm welcome.  Changing the name of an exercise is an app feature.  Sometimes the Android, iOS and Windows versions work differently from each other.  What type of phone do you use?

Hi! I use a iPhone with iOS 13.1.3

@SunsetRunner   I am an iPhone user.  I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you.  I can change the name of any exercise and it doesn't matter if it is done with the Exercise app or auto-recognized.

You get nothing when you go to this page?

Again, so sorry that I cannot help you more.  I hope another user can chime in.  BTW, I have Fitbit app v. 3.10.

I don't think that this has anything to do with iOS 13.  Users have been having notification problems, not this problem.  I will add that I did not upgrade when iOS 13 was released.  Too much personal experience with phone OS and Fitbit app issues.

Nothing is shown, no matter what I search for.

@SunsetRunner   Thank you for posting the screen shot.  I am going to move this thread to the iOS forum.  This appears to be an app issue, not an Ionic issue.  I hope you can get an answer there.

What version of the app are you using?

@SunsetRunner   I am going to try to get a moderator to help answer this.  You and I have the same app version.  I wonder if it is a location/language change.  I'm stumped.

Hello @SunsetRunner
I understand you’re having trouble categorizing training. I went to my own account to see if I could duplicate what you are seeing and was surprised that I too was experiencing the same issue. I have completely fixed the problem by doing the following steps:

log out of your Fitbit App

force shut the Fitbit App by swiping the app upward

turn off your iOS device completely, wait 1-2 mins then turn your iOS device back on

log back into your Fitbit app as you normally would with your email address and password

sync your Fitbit tracker

😉 Hopefully this resolves your issue as it just did mine. Please let me know.

Thanks for your reply!

I have tried this just now, logged out, closed the app by swiping up, turned the iOS devise off. Waited and turned it on, logged in and tried again, did not work. Then I restarted the Ionic also, still same problem...

Any other suggestions?

Hello again @SunsetRunner

When I performed the steps I described to you I went to the exercise search bar area and it appeared (at first glance) that it didn’t work until I actually started tying something before it started to react correctly. Did you attempt to type an exercise in? If that doesn’t work my other suggestion would be to remove the exercise tile completely from the main page of the Fitbit App and perform the steps (previously given) again and enable the exercise tile again through “Discover”. You will not lose any data removing the exercise tile and reactivating it again.

😉 Keep me updated with your results

Yes tried that as well, didn’t work. I can start with any letter from A-Z but nothing shows up. Same happens if I try to register an exercise, no alternatives to be found there either.

Hi!

I have Swedish in my Fitbit app and when I changed to UK then I workes 😊

Thanks for that! I would be great though if I worked when the app is set to Swedish as well.

Just for the record, the search results has never been in Swedish and thats

fine but it must be a bug that you can’t categorize when you have set language to Sweden!

Hi, I have learned today through the Fitbit support that they have now connected the language for activities to the iPhone language. When I change my Iphone settings to English I can search for and categorize activities, but not when I have the iphone settings as my local language. To me this does not seem like a good idea for non-English-native Fitbit users. I would prefer if the app language settings were separate from the phone language setting.

Hello @Kersol and a warm welcome.  Thanks for chiming in -- you verified my suspicion!

@SunsetRunner   I guess Google translate isn't all it's cracked up to be.  😉

Thanks for all the feedback. Turns out it’s enough to change your Fitbit language to English to search for activities (see added pic), I don’t need to switch all my iPhone settings into English. However I’d prefer having the Fitbit settings in my native language (Swedish).
