Can’t enter decimal place for body fat percentage.

I’m facing this issue where I cannot key in decimal places when entering body fat percentage, in the Fitbit app for iPhone. For example, I want to enter 14.6%, but can only type 14%. I’m using iPhone X running iOS 13.2.3. Anybody has a solution to this? Thanks!

Hello RicardoFitbit, I am experiencing the same behavior. As a software developer I wanted to find a work around. A temporary work around maybe worth publishing is this. If your goal is to enter 22.3% into the body fat entry field, the user can enter 23. then change it to 2.3, then change it to 22.3. This 3 step process works for me. Running Iphone 10 xs max, running latest ios and fitbit.

Not workable for me, the decimal point button just doesn’t work for me.

Thanks for the suggestion though and happy you at least have a “solution” for some people out there.

Just putting 22.3% doesn’t work for me either. The decimal doesn’t work for me either and I end up with just 22. However, if I do all 3 steps. 23, then 2.3, then 22.3. Manually placing the cursor each time it works. Sad and annoying workaround, but working for me! Can you confirm that it if you are manually placing the cursor between the numbers?

Best regards,

Hi Matt,

Manually moving the cursor in between and entering the decimal works. Thanks for that. However, when I then want to add an extra digit before the point it just goes “No!” and deletes the entire input. Doesn’t matter if I move the cursor before or after the first digit lol

So the only solution for me is to go on a starvation diet and make sure I’m below 10% fat, then your workaround would work for me. xD

edit: oh wait, I’d have to be below 7.6% any number higher then that and you can’t enter a two digit number.

Well, yes it appears to work, but it's far too complicated.
So meantime, I’m keeping a record using a tried and tested method - pen and paper! I’ll then enter my data if and when the app works!
Come on Fitbit, it’s time you sorted this.

Any updates on this? Getting tired of very precisely moving the cursor around to avoid removing a decimal point I can’t replace, and if I have a day with a round number bf%, it makes the next day impossible to workaround without deleting the x.0% day first.

Please fix!

Why can I no longer put in decimal numbers when logging my fat percentage?

Hello and Welcome @Roelvm

Currently adding decimals while logging your weight into the Fitbit App is an issue that the Fitbit Team is aware. Hopefully this will be addressed soon. In the meantime you can indeed add decimals if you add your weight going through the online Dashboard.
This current situation is being addressed in another post so I’m moving your post here:https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Can-t-enter-decimal-place-for-body-fat-percentage/m-p/395451...
This will allow you to participate in the discussion as well as keep an eye on any updates that become available.

Looks like the decimal point issue is fixed  - fianally.

I’d say “thank you” except Fitbit is only repairing what it broke. Responses were sloppy or non-existent too. An acknowledgment and/or apology would go along way. Words apparently lost from the Fitbit vocabulary.

What fix?
STILL not working for me!

Not fixed here. Running app version 3.12.1 on iOS 13.3. Could be that there’s a staged rollout of a new version that hasn’t been pushed to us yet, but some communication would be helpful.

Did the last update get rid of the ability to enter a decimal point and tenths when entering body fat data? I used to be able to, but in the last few weeks I have not been able to enter the decimal point and tenths to body fat; can only enter whole numbers now

Hello and welcome @gryphiniii

I understand you lost the ability to enter decimal points and tenths when entering body fat data.

Currently this is an issue that the Fitbit Team is aware of and are working on a fix. In the meantime you can enter this information without issue in the online Dashboard. This is being discussed here:https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Can-t-enter-decimal-place-for-body-fat-percentage/m-p/392484...  so I moved your post so that you can participate in the thread and stay updated.

Hey, until they can fix it I’ve found that it works to copy and paste the number (with the decimal place) that you want to enter.

I will give that a try. Not a solution, but thanks for the workaround tip.
