I was given a functioning FitBit Alta.  According to the FitBit website compatibility info, it is compatible with iPhone 5 using iOS 10.

 

I tried to install the app from the Apple App Store and got the message: This application requires iOS 11.0 or later. 

 

What am I doing wrong?

With this being so recent, perhaps the documentation has yet to catch up. 

 

I'm not an iOS user but do you have an option in the app store to download an older version of the app?
