Can't recover my wife's account on new iPhone

ANSWERED

My wife has had a Fitbit account for about five years. Last year, she got a new Fitbit, and everything was working fine. This year, she upgraded to a new iPhone and tried to set up her Fitbit account on the phone. However, her account couldn't be found.

She reached out to Fitbit's Google chat support, but they couldn't locate her account either. They repeatedly asked if she had a different email address, which she doesn't. Despite her telling them this multiple times, they insisted that without the correct email, they couldn't recover her data due to privacy regulations.

My wife pointed out that Fitbit had been sending her personal data, such as Fitbit statistics, to the email address they now claimed they couldn't find. She even sent them screenshots of these emails and questioned why Fitbit was sending personal statistics to an email address they supposedly didn't recognize. Unfortunately, they ignored this question and continued to ask for the correct email address.

From what I've seen on forums, this seems to be a common issue. How can she progress this? She doesn't want to lose five years of valuable data.

Ok. I've managed to partially solve the mystery, for those who may have the same problem. Although my wife had been using the same email address for some time, last year the Fitbit app must have asked her for her phone number, which she gave them. Unbeknownst to her, the app then created a new Gmail account for her using that number as her user name and logged her in that way. Luckily I found this out when, by chance, I put her cell phone number in the name field and it then asked for her password. By looking on her iPhone, I found a password had been saved for Google and now she is back up and running! This doesn't explain why she was receiving emails from Fitbit to her email address, but that's another story.
