Can we see macro-nutrients in grams additional to percentages?

So I know people have been wanting to track macros in the Fitbit app for AGES and I myself use a separate app to track macros and manually enter in a calorie count at the end of the day.

the new update almost helped me be able to finally Jump ship to the Fitbit app alone, but alas, it doesn't cater to what it is people who track macros actually care about. actually seeing how many grams for each macro next to the percentages matters because that is what a lot of people including myself are focusing on! (Also dietary fiber could be nice to see how much you e had that day, this is vital to fitness fitbit nutrition wise) you are so close to making yourself a great all in one app, why stop just short of actually providing the easy small additions to make it happen. So much focus on added features that don't really matter like these important things do. There's a reason why people use other apps to track macros, you are aoooo close

YES. I WANT THIS.

I stopped using myfitnesspal to track macronutrients when the new update came out, but was totally disappointed by only being able to view percentages. So, now I am back to myfitnesspal, and just holding out for another update.

Macro-nutrient grams as a feature, is completely deciding whether Fitbit becomes my total fitness app for everything, or if I decide to uninstall the app completely and sell my Fitbit. It's very hard juggling multiple apps all day long.

I understand how important is for you to check your macro-nutrients with actual quantities displayed on grams additional to the percentages shown, which is why I would like to encourage you to vote and comment on @Mromain87's suggested idea. This is the best way to get our development team's attention.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please keep me posted.

Hi what we need is % and total grams with each macros I as above would like this as I am also having to use a separate app MyFitnessPal to manage my flexible dieting. Knowing the % and total grams consumed with each is key to flexible dieting as each person will look to consume different grams with each macro.

Improvement to the nutrition part of this app would be greatly appreciated

thanks

It would also be helpful if the percentage would reflect the amount of servings taken. For example if a food has 20 grams of carbs per serving and I only have half a serving, the grams logged should be 10. It calculates this for calories, but should do carbs and fats as well. That would help me more accurately log my dietary needs.

I found a recent article by FitBit that says you can track macronutrients by % OR grams but I can't figure out how to switch it to grams 😞 Is that really a feature now, or did they get it wrong at: "at the end of each day, you can view an estimate of daily totals as percentages, as well as in grams." ‪https://blog.fitbit.com/counting-macros-can-help-reach-health-goals/‬

Hello @HokieMomma, thanks for joining the conversation and welcome to the Fitbit Community! Smiley Happy

I was checking the link you posted and I understand that the blog entry might imply that macro-nutrients can be measure in grams but at this moment this is not possible. Our team is aware of the demand for macro-nutrients to be measured this way and the best way to show your support is voting and commenting on @Mromain87's suggested idea

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, it there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

If you login online at fitbit.com, then go to log, and under food plan, both grams and % is listed. Yes, you need to login online, but most of the information needed is available. It would be better if it also included total cholesterol.

Best Answer

Yes, Fitbit! Please allow us to see the totals in grams in addition to the total percentages! We enter the grams in order for you to calculate the percentages, so the numbers are already in there. 🙂 Please give us actual numbers for the total in addition to just the percentages. This would allow us macro-counters to exclusively use the Fitbit app. Thank you!

When is this coming out? This feature should not take more than a few man hours...

As Pismo stated logging onto the the actual website works (not windows app). I cant see how this is hard to get put into the apps. For now I am just going to bookmark the page on my phone for quick reference.

Calories 822

Fat 18.2 g

Fiber 1.2 g

Carbs 100.9 g

Sodium 1591.2 mg

Protein 60.6 g

Thanks Pismo

Although logging in online allows more information, there remains several problems with the Fitbit app. Often, the app indicates different % amounts of carbs, fats and protein compared to the online percentages, even though the food has synced properly. I spoke with Fitbit support about this and they have no explanation. I had hoped the most recent update fixed this, but didn't.

@Pismo311 -

I believe you will find a delta on days when the App states their are a number of "unrecognized calories".
