Cannot Clear App Notifications - Red Dot

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Greetings,

I have the iPhoneX and Fitbit Ionic. I noted there are a host of questions/issues with notifications. I am specifically referring to the notifications in the Fit Bit app (not under settings). I open the app and refresh it and there is always (for the past 7 months) a red dot next to Notifications in the app. I refresh time and again however it never clears. Any help would be great. Piggybacking on the topic, is there a way to clear notifications (e.g. overachiever - you just added 1,200 steps over your goal) and taunts or cheers? Thanks in advance!

@chitown312 Welcome to the Fitbit forums! I moved your post to the iOS App Board as there are more chances for you to get an answer to your inquiry here.

Thanks for taking the time to share the experience you are having with the red dot on the notifications tab on the Fitbit app. Thanks for sharing all of those details.

Have you checked if you don't have any unread notifications or pending friend requests? Could you please share a screen shot showing it?

Please try logging out from the Fitbit app, rebooting your phone, and logging back in. Then, check if the red dot is gone.

Also, please feel free to vote for this Feature Suggestions asking for a "clear all" option for app notifications to avoid the red dot from appearing:

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

So I logged out of the app/shut the phone off for five minutes and logged back in. Still the same. Also you can see it stopped updating 6 mos ago. I would actually like to clear out all notifications; however still need to fix the issue. Thx for moving the thread-hope someone can help. Here’s a screen capture.

Hello @chitown312, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have come back to us after trying the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. Please note that due to the feedback of many members of the Community and people in general, in-app Notifications were removed from the app on June 2018. This was heavily requested and our team decided to remove this feature, you will now receive goal-step notifications as push Notifications in your phone.

Now, when it comes to the red dot, please tap on the Messages tab and scroll down, then go back to the Notifications tab and if the red dot hasn't disappeared, please let us know. Some people have mentioned that uninstalling the app and reinstall it has helped them; however, if you would like to try this, my best recommendation is to sync your Fitbit device before, to prevent losing any data that hasn't been synced to your account yet.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, please give these steps a try and let us knwo the outcome.

I would still like to be able to access this feature, is that possible?  Also trying your fix didn’t work to get rid of the red dot

Hello @Haselblad, thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to welcome new members to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have joined us and posted your question. Please note that as mentioned earlier, in-app Notifications based on steps were removed on June 2018 and for the time being it's not possible to access them. You will receive them now as push Notifications on your phone. Now, when it comes to the red dot, our team is still working on this issue and once we have more to share, we'll make sure to post it here in the official Forums.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

I’ve just read through some of the suggestions concerning the “Red dot”

I've followed “all” the suggestions to get rid of it and it’s still there. What should I do next
