Cannot access Fitbit account on new phone

I’m hating the whole google migration demand!

I first set up a google account in Germany, with a German ph #, but now I’m back in Australia it will only accept my German phone number—I no longer have it— and I’m therefore locked out.

i want out of this mess but don’t know how to get there.

Welcome to the community forums, @5decibles.

I've moved your post to the iOS App board so we can keep the forums organized. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Before anything else, let me explain that you can set up a 2-factor authentication so you can access your account only after entering the verification code provided on your phone. This process isn't related to the migration to Google, as it's only an extra layer of security that you can add to your account.

That being said, I'd recommend the following steps to regain access:

  1. Open the Fitbit app. On the login screen, tap Deactivate 2FA > Deactivate Using Recovery Code.
  2. Enter your recovery code, and click Confirm. Two factor authentication turns off.
  3. Then, just log in to your account with your password.
  4. Once you're logged in, change the phone number with the steps described here.
