I am a religious user of my fitbit charge 2, and I noticed recently that my cardio fitness score had dropped like 6-8 points.
I have been frustrated with my score because it has not changed in the several months since I first set it. Now, it's even telling me you go on a 10 minute run to set my score like it did when first bought my device.
My theory is that the app has trouble calculating my score because my workouts are typically playing pick-up basketball or taking fitness classes - I rarely go on runs that I track with GPS. Improving my cardio score has been a goal, but not seeing any changes, then seeing it abruptly drop, has been frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Could be very possible I go through times of broken sleep and not getting enough and I work 4-5 times a week at least 45 minutes to over an hour. Thank you
UPDATE:
Thank you I did it didn’t seem to fix anything. I already said my workouts don’t include running. Step with weights cardio with 3-5 lbs weights. Should I always use my GPS when I start a work out?

Hello @Stepqueen11 and @binsky I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply.
@Stepqueen11 First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. I appreciate you have let us know your exercises do not include running. Please note that your Cardio Fitness Score is mostly based by your resting heart rate, age, sex, weight, and other personal information. For best results, make sure your weight is correct in your Fitbit profile. Also, wear your tracker or watch to sleep for a better resting heart rate estimate. Additionally, to get a better and more precise score is recommended to perform GPS activities, such as runs and walks. which should be over 10 minutes long. With that said, I would like to suggest you that if you're performing an activity where you will be moving from one point to another, enable and connect GPS between your device and your phone.
I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

Yes I can relate to this , when I go fir a long run 10k my cardio levels are 49 , but when I had this week two 5k runs but we’re fast my levels dropped to 47? how can this be correct especially as I smashed my record fir the 5k ? I’m fitter now than I was last year , and yet they dropped .. so basically don’t try and run fast ? U get a lower cardio level .... how frustrating ☹️

Mine was at 48 for as long as I can remember.. about 3 years and my fitness hasn't changed but this week it dropped to 20!! I should be using a Zimmer frame at this rate!!

It’s just ludicrous isn’t it ? How can that be ? Las week I also did a half a marathon , so there’s no way my levels can drop ! I cannot believe ur dropped so low ? You know that’s inaccurate, but still u would like to think these scores are pretty precise 🤷:female_sign:

I’m having the same issue too. About 2 months ago I increased my running from once a week to between 2 and 3 times per week, and have increased the distance that I am running, how long I am able to run before needing to stop and walk etc. In those 8 weeks my cardio score has gone down from 43 when I was running once a week to today dropping to 38 following my best run so far. It’s a bit demotivating when you feel like you’re getting better/fitter but according to the app etc you’re actually getting worse 👎🏻 I’ll obviously keep running and see if the score starts evening out - I’m reassured in a way that at least it’s not just me it’s happened to!!

My cardio score has not improved since my last post and to be honest I’ve stopped expecting it to, I run 3/4 times a week up to 32 miles a week and I know I’m fitter than I’ve ever been my score went from 43 and I’m still at 34 it is de- moralising but I ignore it now and have stopped checking to see if it’s improved, maybe my next fitness tracker won’t be a Fitbit, good luck with your running.

I used fitbit while on the treadmill using the run function. My cardiac fitnsss went from excelled to fair. I looked at the tracing of thi treadmill run and it made no sense. Showed I was running in loops at a pace of 29. I believe it was using GPS. I deleted that run and my cardiac fitness went up to very good. I suggest deleting any odd GPS runs.

I have had the same experience! Did Fitbit support give you any answers?

Still don’t know why ? I think as I went faster my heart rate went up giving me a change in my levels of fitness, If u run fir a longer period it seems that ur heart rate stays even as u are trying to pace ur self to get further so it doesn’t affect ur fitness level but if u go faster and shorter to get a personal best obviously ur heart rate shoots up and then Fitbit thinks ur not as fit, even though u probably are 🤷:female_sign:

It’s all to do with your heart rate and pace the gps does give a better readin than the treadmill my fitness level one up a little it will never be accurate but while I’m stilll running I’m still fit 😁

My score dropped from 38 to 24 overnight. I am 67 and exercise every day. I hit the bike button when doing sprint which didn't show that I moved at all. When I deleted that session my level went straight back up.

Hi all if you log a spin or sprint class on your fit bit as a bike ride your fitness score will drop. When I deleted these my score went back up to where it usually is. Probably best to just record it as a workout.
