Categorizing Roller Skating

My FitBit will not let me categorize/track my roller skating unless I add it as a "log exercise". The Calories, heart rate, and active zone for exercise (peak, cardio, and fat burn) are not accurate. I have to track my exercise as a run when I roller skate then go back look at my time, distance, calories burned and add that as a log and delete the original exercise tracked as a run as not to duplicate that exercise. How can I avoid having to do this? There has to be an easier way or maybe I am just not understanding how to accurately track/log my exercise. Any help/info will be greatly appreciated.

If you want to skip any of this please at least read the last part of this post that starts with "How important..."

I didn't actually run for two reasons - I just finished a one-hour treadmill session plus my knees really cannot take running anymore.

But I started a run exercise using my Versa 2 exercise app and took a few laps around the family room.

I then tapped on "Categorize Exercise           >"  and only received:

Which is probably what you have been seeing.

I also tried "Walk", "Hike" and "Bike" with the same results.

Just another one of the dozens of inconsistencies I have found here in "FitBit land".

As an IT Professional I would personally be ashamed to be associated with the FitBit development group.

How important is it to label your exercise records as "Roller skating"? Do you also "Run" on a regular basis thus necessitating the reclassification? If so, maybe you could use "Bike" instead of "Run" knowing that "Bike" really means "Roller skating". Sorta like talking in code!

Just a thought.

Either way, good luck.

Have you tried bringing up the "Run" exercise record up in the app, and tapping on "Categorize Exercise"? Once the next screen comes up start typing "roller" in the search box and select "Roller skating".

I do that on a regular basis to change "Interval Workout" to "Rowing Machine" so I know which of the two normal interval workouts I am looking at later on.

Here is this morning's ten rep workout that now says "Rowing Machine" at the top and in the exercise listings, as well.

Good luck and welcome to the boards.

So, I would track it as a run and then after I complete it, go back and select categorize exercise and then in the search type roller skating? I want to be sure I am understanding what you are saying. Thank you MrMarv for your reply and help

I just tried that and a search bar does not pop up. The search bar will only pop up when I choose log exercise.
