How do I change the information in the big circle. It has active minutes and I want steps.

From the main screen, press on "edit" at the top right.
Under "Manage Activity Items" drag "Steps" to the top by pressing and holding on the three horizontal lines on the right.
Use the same method to change the sequence of other Activity Items as well as the all of the other "Today" items.
You could even move a "Today" item - let's say Heart Rate - to reside above the "steps/distance/calories/activeminutes/floors" Activity section.
