Changing goals

I’ve tried countless times to adjust my daily goals in every way I can think of , but they almost immediately go right back to where they were .. why can I not adjust my daily goals ? Do I just have to live with whatever setting was there and can never adjust ?

Hi, @BigRez , it is certainly possible to change your goals!  From the opening screen of your app click on the gear icon top right.  On the next screen click on “Activity and Wellness” and then “Daily Activity”.  Under Daily Activity you will see the option to change your goals for steps, distance, calories, active zone minutes, floors (if your Fitbit counts floors), hours for 250 steps per hour.  You can also set your goal for Active Zone Minutes per week.

Whenever you make any changes in the app you need to be sure to sync your Fitbit so that app changes are reflected on your device.

I hope this helps!  Please post again if you continue to have this difficulty.  There is always someone here to help.

I’ve tried that many times and it sets and then the first time scan back
one day it reverts back to original , it is very frustrating, with more and
more updates fitbit is getting worse and worse , pretty soon won’t even
recommend Fitbit as it is way more Frustrating than it ever was

Hi, @BigRez I am sorry to hear that!  Have you tried updating your app and giving your Fitbit a restart ? In the meantime I will test this myself and see if I can reproduce this as a bug.  If so I will report to Fitbit and see what they say.  How quickly does the re-set of the goals happen?  Is it all goals or just steps?

Thanks for reporting.

I’ve tried many times to adjust my daily calorie goal as well as active
minutes , I will set them and it shows for the day and then if I check in
again it is set back to where it was set by me years ago , so almost
immediately..

How do I do a reset ?

And I can’t find the sync button that it used to have

Hi, @BigRez , okay, I’ll try re-setting those goals on mine.

If you click on the link I shared above (and again here) you will find instructions to give your Fitbit a  restart

I agree it is a little difficult at first to find your way around the new app.  From the opening screen of the app click on the icon top left.  (It is meant to represent a watch and a smartphone).  On the next screen click on your Fitbit device.  On the device screen scroll down to find “sync now”.

None of that worked , tried multiple times , Fitbit has gotten worse with
every update , almost like they are trying to lose business

Hi, @BigRez I am still trying to replicate your bug.  So far my changed goal settings have remained stable.  How long does it take before yours revert to previous goals.

Did you mean you still cannot find the “sync now” button?

Following updating your app and giving your Fitbit a restart, please try again to update your goals and then sync your Fitbit.  If possible it would be helpful for you to let us know how long it takes for your goals to revert to the previous setting.

It resets before I can even get to the sync , I will change the number and
by time get to the sync thing it’s already reverted back

Also I know ya cannot change 2 goals as when change one , if try another
the first resets before getting back to it ..

I give up thanks for trying ..

All I care about is calories and active minutes , so guess just gotta live
with the fact that Fitbit won’t do what it once would

Hi, @BigRez , using the iOS app on Fitbit I have successfully changed those goals that you mention without any reverting to previous settings so I am unable to replicate your experience.  The goals are sticking, as expected.  I am also able to change multiple goals at once.  I would recommend trying again my instructions for changing your goal as mentioned in my first reply to you.  Alternatively, if you are able, please could you try sending some screen shots so I can try to see what is going on?

Thanks for trying , I set the goal to desired number , then have to hit the
back button a few times to get to the sync thing, click it and it says main
goal deactivated then goes back to active and when go back to calories it
says my number on today , swipe to week and boom everything back to where
it was …. Since you can’t replicate it is just on my end I guess and my
Fitbit app or charge 4 just isn’t what it once was ,, new updates are not
user friendly and wish it would go back to what it was once …. How do
screen shots when there would be like 10 but it changes on its own ..
thanks for trying , I’ve been using since 2017 and had never been this
difficult..

Just gonna accept that the app now sucks and there is no fixing it , the
powers that be must want it to be complicated so people stop using I guess
..

Scared to log out or reset app as have 6 years of data that I refer to all
the time

I have an elderly Charge 4.  I’ll set it up, try it out and get back to you.

Logging out and resetting the app will not cause any data loss at all!  Once synced all your data is stored on the Fitbit servers and NOT on your app.  The only thing you have to be careful about is making sure you log back in using the same email address, so be sure you know which address you used!! If you are in doubt you can find out by checking the web based dashboard which is available whenever you are logged into the Community.  At the top right hand side of every page in these forums you will find a link to the Dashboard.  Click on that and then click on the gear icon to find your settings.  You will see your Fitbit email address.  As long as you know that all your data will be associated with that address.
