Connecting charge 5 to legacy Fitbit, instead of google

My charge 5 died a few weeks out of warranty.  Ordered a charge 6 which required a google account.  Received the device and connected to google account but history didn’t port.  Have spent a number of calls with tech support but they say “it now can’t be done”. Decided to return the device.  Ordered another charge 5 (not from Fitbit).  Received and tried to login with old Fitbit credentials.  Now getting message on iPhone that I have to login with google account.  Really?

Either port my old account to the google account or at least let me log in with my old account.  Doing neither will ensure I leave the brand.  Hoping someone has a work around.  I have no data in the new google account that I care about but Fitbit tech support says the account can’t be deleted.  Any suggestions?

Hi @Florida_Man - annoying as this sounds it's not normally possible to go back after switching to the Google account, but this isn't stated, nor do you have the option with the Charge 6 to use the old Fitbit account which Google are trying to remove by 2025. There are numerous things that don't work after switching.

Thank you.  I’m trying to connect a charge 5.  I’ve returned the charge 6.  My legacy Fitbit account was not migrated to google but a new google account was created for the charge 6.  I see a few options:

1). Delete the current google account and let me migrate the legacy Fitbit account to a new google account.

2).  Simply merge the two account (Fitbit and google)

3).  Let me just connect an older Fitbit to my legacy Fitbit account.

All three options should be very feasible but Fitbit tech support says none are possible at this time.  Seriously?

Apparently, once you set up a google account.  Google must use some cross referencing of name, address, or email to essentially link but not merge your legacy Fitbit account.  Once this occurs you can no longer login to the app with your Fitbit account credentials, you have to use google credentials.  You can login in via Google’s web portal and access your historical Fitbit data but you can no longer link a device to your Fitbit account.  It really makes no sense.
