I bought a Fitbit Versa from a friend and when I try to set it up to my iPhone 8 i get the same error message over and over. "Com.fitbit HTTP error 500"

1. WiFi is in

2.  I have the Fitbit in the charger

3. I have restarted my Fitbit

4. I have the latest app

5. I've restarted my phone

6. I've even tried to make a new account with a different email.

Moderator Edit: Clarified Subject.

What can I do so setup and sync it to my iPhone?

Hello @Malijo, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have come back after trying the troubleshooting steps I've provided earlier. If you're still seeing the error 500 when trying to set up the Versa, please make sure your friend has removed the Versa from their account. Ask them to log in to the account and remove the Versa, then set it up on your account before your friend delete their account again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Hello @Malijo, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I would like to thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. As your Versa was given to you by a friend it's possible it was set up in an acount that was recently deleted, which is why you're getting an error 500 when trying to set it up.

If it's possible, please log in to the recently deleted account, if you do it before 7 days have passed since the deletion you can halt the process and remove the Versa from that account. This will let you set it up on your own account without inconveniences. If you don't have access to the old account, you will need to wait 7 days for the account to be completely deleted before setting up the Versa in yours.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

I asked my friend to delete the Versa from her account which she did yesterday (9 January). She also deleted her account afterwards. I tried today (10 January) to connect my Versa to my iPhone but I still get the same message. Maybe I need to wait longer?

UPDATE:

I tried to restore the factory settings as well and this time it actually gets faster contact after I put the 4 digit code, but just as fast the same error code appears Smiley Sad and since I restored the factory settings I can't use the watch at all now Smiley Sad

Update:

It is now working after she deleted the Versa from her account 😀

Hi!

Thank you for your reply but as I wrote in my previous post she already did this. She have removed the Versa from her account January 9th and also deleted the actual account. Do I need do wait longer? I also tried to restore factory settings in my Versa but the only difference now is that I get the error message much faster.
