Upon starting my walk, turn on the exercise app, go to walk, and the versa just keeps saying it is connecting. Tried standing right next to my phone, still nothing. Any resolve to this issue?

in settings IP Address - states that the wi-fi is off. put in on the charger, still nothing. Turned the versa on/off, still nothing. Any solutions? I've seen a few questions on this topic but have yet to see an answer.

Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community @Katfish4
I see your having syncing issues. I noticed that you posted your syncing issue question twice. I’m going to merge those two post together before answering your question. Please only post your question once to avoid confusion with multiple reposes from others trying to help. 😃 Thanks

Are these two issues related? I don't have an issue with my Versa syncing with my phone. I have an issue is that the wi-fi is off and can't get it turned on. The second issue is that when setting the exercise of walk to calculate the actual walk, it won't connect to calculate the distance or the route.

Hello again @Katfish4
Lets try restarting your Fitbit Versa to see if this resolves your syncing issue. Here’s how:
If that does not resolve your issue try turning your Bluetooth off, then on again. If your still having trouble then let’s try force shutting the Fitbit App.
Here’s how:
log out of your Fitbit App
turn off your iOS device completely, wait 1-2 mins then restart your iOS device
log back into your Fitbit App as you normally would with your email address and password
try syncing now
😃 please let me know if this resolves your syncing issue. If indeed it does could you please tap “choose as best answer” box under my post? Doing so helps others who come to this community looking for answers to questions similar to your own. I’d really appreciate it!

This didn't work. It's not a syncing issue. The wi-fi won't connect and the app for walking won't connect to calculate the route and distance.

Hello again @Katfish4
Issue 1: This link may help with your WiFi issue here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2249/?q=Wifi&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1
Issue 2: When you say “the app for walking” let me clarify that you are talking about the Fitbit App (not an add on app)

When using the versa I go to exercise, choose walking, push the arrow button to start. The timer starts, and the connection should work immediately. However, it just keeps trying to connect and never does.

Let me try to get someone more versed in the Versa Tracker. I’m more familiar with the Alta HR. 😉

Hi @Katfish4, good to see you around.
The Versa only uses WiFi for FW update, app updates and music transfer. It's quite normal that you won't see the device connected to WiFi, in fact it usually only establishes a connection when placed in the charger to charge (this is to save power).

Hello katfish4
Do you use iPhone or android. I am using iPhone and versa. Firstly, on your watch when you select exercise then walk you will see a settings cog in the top left corner. Select that and scroll down the list of options and find ‘Connected GPS’. Does yours say ‘on’ or ‘off’.
If it says ‘on’ then my understanding is that I have to have my iPhone with me but i also need the fit bit app open on my phone when using the walk (or run) exercise option......because the fitbit does not have its own gps it needs to use the phones gps and the app needs to be open so that fitbit has access to your location.
on iPhone if you double click the home button it will show you which apps are currently open, not sure how to check it on android though.

Thank you for the information and I do have an I phone. While I can certainly take my phone with me on my walk, it used to connect without taking my phone.

By the way, the GPS does say "on".

@Katfish4 In order to use GPS with the Versa you need to have your phone with you. The Versa doesn't have onboard GPS and actually uses what is called "connected GPS", this uses the GPS chip on your phone (via a Bluetooth connection). If you wish to track your walks without your phone, you can tap the cog icon on the walk exercise and turn connected GPS to off. This will then track your walk using the sensors onboard the Versa, obviously you will not get a map this way as GPS will no longer be involved.

Was there any resolution to this? I can't see a reply that answers your problem and I am experiencing same. Just says connecting forever. I had it working sporadically on the One Plus 5 but have switched to One Plus Nord, updated everything, logged back into accounts and now no connection.
It does tell me how many calories I've supposedly burned at the end though how it knows with no connection to gps or anything I have no idea. Does it just decide time+pressing 'exercise' = calories?
I have similar weird selective connectivity issues with Spotify app as well.
