The subject pretty much says it all. Either the Fitbit app seems to not know what iOS version I'm running or someone botched pushing out a warning message.

Same issue here. I know it's not my phone. I agree, seems like someone or something is confused.

I'm not sure that I can make it stop. I will give feedback via my internal channels. Fitbit app v 3.77 will require iOS 15 as a minimum. The way I read my internal communication, this was only supposed to go to users currently using iOS 14.

I have an iPhone 7. I just received a message on opening my Fitbit app on it that I will need to update my phone’s iOS to continue getting full use from the app. I didn’t take in the version number it said I would need before closing the message and there’s now no record of it. I have the latest iOS 15 version, and see that iOS 16 is stated by Apple as not being available for the iPhone 7. Fitbit can’t be serious that I’m going to have to buy a new phone if I want to use my Fitbit with they app……can it?!?!?!

With all due respect... every single smartwatch company does this. Is it right? No. Is it ethical? No. But they all do it. The iPhone 6S Plus was released in 2015. In technology terms, it's an ancient relic from the past. It's not 2-3 years old, not even 5, it's 8 years old!!! Granted it may still work (and I struggle to believe the battery isn't shot after 8 years of usage) but to be fair to Fitbit, supporting 8 year old devices isn't going to generate them any cash. But even if you were to switch to a rival brand, you'd find the same issue.

I agree 100%. I was just looking to see if this was an issue that would be fixed. No big deal, it was just confusing. Very well put PrechewCharlie

@NewbieNov22 You will be fine, for now with iOS 15 on your iPhone 7. This notification was supposed to go to users currently using iOS 14.
Just so you know -- Apple discontinues support for older devices over time. I found a source that said that the iPhone 7 got a security update in Sep 2022. It might or might not get more security updates.

Fitbit has started rolling out iOS version 3.77. In the note describing the update, it mentions. That your eye phone software must meet or exceed the standard that is being discussed. I believe this must’ve been a warning to Fitbit users to make sure that they are iPhone software was up-to-date before attempting to install the update. If you were running an older update, it looks like the 3.77 update will not work The way it is designed.

With all due respect, Microsoft stopped giving updates to Window 7 and it is no longer supported by them, however they did not disable any software, programs or hardware - all of which (by your standards) are "ancient relics from the past" - yet millions of people continue to use the better Windows 7 OS. Additionally, my iPhone battery is in excellent condition as it was professionally replaced less than one year ago. Thanks for the response. Regards.

Hi everyone! @LZeeW, @Podunk and @Strathmont Thanks for sharing your insights.
Let me explain the notification reported in this thread was intended for members using an iOS 14 device. Our team is aware and currently investigating the root cause of this situation.
If you have a device running iOS 15+, rest assured the Fitbit app should continue working on your device. For more information about the compatibility requirements, click here.
Once again, I appreciate your feedback and patience on this matter.
